Kalmar renews with Patrick Terminals for 10 new AutoStrads
Date:2020-11-25 Readers:
KALMAR, part of Finland's Cargotec, is to supply a total of 10 Kalmar AutoStrad units to Australia's Patrick Terminals, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

The order for the fully automated straddle carriers was booked in Cargotec's second quarter order, with delivery to be completed early next year.

Patrick Terminals is Australia's leading container terminal operator, handling over three million TEU annually. The company operates some of Australia's most technologically advanced terminals at four strategically located ports in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle.

In January 2020 the company signed a comprehensive software maintenance and support agreement with Kalmar covering the equipment automation systems at Brisbane and Sydney.

Of the 10 AutoStrads, seven will operate at Brisbane and three at Sydney. The machines are part of Patrick Terminals' fleet renewal programme and will join the existing fleet of over 130 Kalmar straddle carriers, replacing some of the older-generation Kalmar AutoStrads in the fleet.

Said Patrick CEO Michael Jovicic: "The Kalmar AutoStrad is a critical piece of equipment for our Brisbane and Sydney terminals."

Said Kalmar vice president Daniel Ho: "Our collaboration with Patrick Terminals stretches back many years, and this new order will help to further enhance what is already a world-class automation solution based on our proven technologies."
